My daughter, the racist?

Being the political junkies we are, we make Gabby watch Barack Obama's primary election victory speeches (okay, Hillary's too). When she sees Obama on TV, she gets excited and says, "Dad, look! It's Obama! We like Obama. We don't like Hillary, but Mom likes Hillary a little bit."

So, when I was watching a basketball game and she pointed at one of the African American players and said, "Dad, look! It's Obama!" I had to explain to her that, no, Senator Obama wasn't playing basketball (he was probably off giving an important speech on race). I tried to explain that not all people with dark skin were Obama, but I'm not sure she really got it. I'm guessing we'll have this discussion again, hopefully with the real Obama in the White House.

or will it be "the black House"? Hmmm, makes you think, huh?

I promise your sister is not a racist.

That picture is reminiscent of the Harlem Globe Trotters. The Obama confusion is just the result of experience and association.
